FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
International Organization of Zerophiliacs Announces FDA Filing for LOS ANGELES, CA., July 18, 2007 The International Organization of Zerophiliacs LLC (IOZ) today announced initial filings with the FDA for its Z-chromosome assay. IOZ's test is a Mass Spectrometry assay to detect the presence of the Z-Chromosome in human DNA. As the first assay using metabolites as an indicator, IOZ's test would represent a major breakthrough in providing the first widely accepted indicator of a rare genetic condition at a fraction of the cost of direct DNA analysis. "We believe that an accurate, affordable assay for the presence of the Z-Chromosome will enable medical professionals to obtain accurate statistical data on the prevalence of Zerophilia among the general population, and serve as a critical first step to advancing research on this little-known and widely misunderstood condition," said Czierny Ptolemy, Vice President Laboratory Operations of IOZ. "We are pleased to be in a position to submit our assay for clearance by the FDA after less than three years in development.† †FDA clearance would encourage acceptance of our assay as a standard clinical test among physicians, and thereby increase the public's awareness of Zerophilia, and help it to more quickly gain acceptance among the scientific research community and policymakers, as a normal, non-threatening genetic condition.† We believe that the presence of a latent Z-Chromosome, especially among young people aged 15-25, is vastly underreported." The prevalence of a latent Z-Chromomsome among the general
The International Organization of Zerophiliacs formed in May, 2003 with funding from private doctors and research scientists, "to combat irrational fears and misinformation regarding Zerophilia and to provide a safe, anonymous community for Zerophiliacs and those with a Z-Chromosome." It quickly established itself as the leading source for information regarding Zerophilia worldwide. In June of 2004, under the supervision of renowned neuro-morphologist, Czierny Ptolemy, the IOZ opened its Laboratory Services Online offering free Z-Chromosome testing to the general public.
